Steve Cotterill suffered his first defeat as the Forest manager in yesterdays 1-0 loss to the Tigers.
He felt that Forest were not at their best and was disappointed with the performance.
Forest fell to a 74th minute close range strike from Aaron Mclean which pushed the Tigers into a play-off place and kept up their superb away league form of just two defeats in 25 games going back to last October.
The Reds struggled to create many clear cut goalscoring chances in a game which Hull manager Nigel Pearson felt would always be tight.
"You've got to remember that we were up against a side that have had back-to-back wins and are playing with a lot higher tempo but I think we coped with them quite well," he said.
"Our goalkeeper, Adriano Basso, has had to make one fantastic save but outside of that he didn't have to make too many saves.
"Having said that I think Forest will be a little bit disappointed that they did not put us under more pressure in certain situations."
