The Scot goes into battle on the transfer front safe in the knowledge both that he has already done the majority of his deals and that those players he has brought in are already making a big impact at the City Ground.
Although disappointed by the opening 45 minutes of Saturday's defeat at Wigan, Davies was quick to stress after the game his delight at seeing the Reds in such a good early position in the Championship heading in to the international break.
"We'll look forward to a bit of a break now, because it's a long season ahead."
A number of players continue to be linked with moves to Nottingham but, having been able to make 11 changes at Wigan from the side that beat Millwall in the League Cup, Davies may also have to allow one or two of his squad to find pastures new.
