What has become a big day in the football calendar may be even more so this year as Premier League clubs have even more money to spend than usual and even a number of Championship clubs are splashing the cash to join the big-time.
Both Burnley and Derby County for example have been linked with Nottingham Forest players over the past few weeks.
For Forest manager Dougie Freedman of course the wait for the window to close must seem like an eternity as he spends every minute where he is not actually working with his players trying to make additions to a threadbare squad.
And all the while the Scot will be dreading the call that says one of his key players has been sold.
That likelihood will remain up until the final minute of the transfer window as deals continue to be done up to and sometimes beyond the deadline.
