Ling and Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood were team-mates at Swindon Town but now meet at Brisbane Road with both their sides desperate for points at opposite ends of the table.

"Maybe my mate Colin Calderwood will let me reach safety and just accept that they will win the play-offs," joked Ling.

"A win against Forest would put all the demons to bed."
