The defender left the club he supported as a youngster in 1997 to join Burnley. He is now Chesterfield's longest-serving player after making over 200 appearances for the Spireites.
He told the Sheffield Star: "It was quite tough playing for the club I had always supported. My grandad first took me and we used to stand on the Trent End. One minute I was watching them and the next I was playing for them. I could never get away from it.
"All my mates were Forest fans and everyone was watching my every move. It definitely made it harder and my life changed when I started playing for them.
"I really enjoyed it though, looking back. I was on the fringes of things and managed a few games in the Premier League but once Frank Clark got the sack, my days were numbered and I signed for Chris Waddle at Burnley."
Asked what sort of reception he expected from the home crowd, Blatherwick said: "They won't even remember me!
"I left on good terms and the supporters were always good to me, being a Forest lad.
"There will be a few of mates who will be there, they still go to watch them. They've been saying 'you better not beat us' since the fixtures came out."
