He said of the 29-year-old: "Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Brecks and we've allowed him to talk to them.
"I'm not sure what Ian is going to do at this stage, but he's reported back for pre-season training with the rest of the squad and has been working hard.
"Forest have made him an offer and he's thinking about it. Regardless of what Brecks decides to do, I'm looking to bring in one, if not two new centre halves to the club anyway.
"Pace at the back is an area we need to improve on for the Premiership season and I'm looking to improve that."
