Calderwood set for Newcastle boss role

Having recently taken up a coaching role at St James's Park, Calderwood will take the main responsibility for first-team affairs in the absence of another ex-City Ground supremo, Joe Kinnear, who is to undergo surgery.

Calderwood, who will work alongside Chris Hughton, said: "I'm glad to be here and it's given me a lift as much as anything else."
