Mick McCarthy's side have won their last three league games, raising hopes that the Blues could finally end their 12 season stay in English football's second tier.
Not that McCarthy, a veteran of promotions past, is getting carried away in what is shaping up to be the usual scrap for play-off places.
“We are planning to finish as high as we can," he said earlier in the week, quoted in the East Anglian Daily Times.
"It’s great to have three wins on the bounce, but we’re going to (Nottingham) Forest on Saturday and that could burst the bubble very quickly because they’re a good team."
Scorer of 8 league goals in 63 appearances (32 from the bench) for the Reds, David McGoldrick has been in good form of late for Ipswich and has matched his Forest tally from just 19 games to date this season.
