The German midfielder started Friday night's friendly against Stevenage, an indication perhaps that Dougie Freedman sees him a potential regular in the opening stages of the 2015/16 season.
Tesche ended the last campaign on loan at Birmingham City and it was no secret that Blues manager Gary Rowett was keen to re-sign the player on a permanent deal.
But, speaking ahead of his side's weekend friendly at Kidderminster Harriers, Rowett told the official BCFC website "We thought there was a realistic chance but it looks as though things have perhaps changed there in terms of their thinking."
That alludes, of course, to the transfer embargo that Freedman is working under and the difficulty he may be having in making new signings.
And 28-year-old Tesche may yet to prove to be a key man having started 30 games in the Championship last season for Forest initially and then with Blues, netting twice for each club.
