The Brewers take on Manchester United at their new Pirelli Stadium in a 3rd round tie that has caught the imagination of everyone at the Conference club.
For Clough it will be another battle with Sir Alex Ferguson, many years after he was part of a Forest side that had some memorable FA Cup tussles with the Red Devils.
Forest were 1-0 winners at Old Trafford in a quarter-final tie in 1989 thanks to a Gary Parker goal.
"We weren't expected to win that one and it was a hell of an achievement for us at that time," said Clough.
Just one season on and Forest lost 1-0 at home to United in a 3rd round game that is widely seen as keeping Ferguson in a job.
"There was a lot of talk about Alex Ferguson being under pressure," said Clough.
"It was a difficult game. Even with the undersoil heating, the pitch was frozen.
"I remember Mark Robins popped up with a very good finish to win the game.
"The ball came in low and he had to stoop to head it and sent it back the way it came and into the net.
"I suppose, for them, there was an element of revenge in that game."
