The new City Ground manager told BBC Radio Nottingham: "The greatest honour I ever achieved in football was captaining England.
"Being my captain holds a lot of importance in my eye. I hope it does in whoever captains the team."
Injury ended Cohen's season in November last year but the 27-year-old has already racked up 229 league appearances since moving to the City Ground in the summer of 2007 and will be hoping to add considerably to that total in 2014/15.
