Impressive 4-1 winners at Fulham on Good Friday, Brentford are not only firmly in the hunt for a play-off place but have yet to give up on hopes of automatic promotion to the Premier League.
That is despite a backdrop of managerial uncertainty with Mark Warburton poised to leave the club in the summer after a disagreement with the Bees owner over the future direction of the West London outfit.
Linked strongly with the Queens Park Rangers job in recent weeks, Warburton is keeping his focus on what would be an incredible achievement in his first senior managerial role.
"We can't worry about what other teams do," he said after success at Craven Cottage.
"I don't know how many points we will need. We can only worry about ourselves and make sure we do all the things we need to do."
Nottingham Forest may or may not have a new man in charge come next season but for now it is pride alone that the visitors are playing for after defeat by Wolves called time on their play-off ambitions.
Dougie Freedman is talking to the club about extending his contract at the City Ground and has talked about emulating Brentford's blueprint for success.
It will not be spend, spend, spend," said the Scot after weekend discussions with the club hierarchy.
"We have had more talks with the owner and we are on the same page."
