The Reds will travel to St Andrew's in good spirits after Saturday's comeback victory at Queens Park Rangers where new signings Chris O'Grady and Ryan Mendes performed well and fellow recent arrival Nelson Oliveira came off the bench to score the winning goal.
Dougie Freedman's options were further strengthened last week by the loan signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jonathan Williams and the Welshman boosted his fitness levels by playing 64 minutes of Monday's Under-21 game against Cardiff City and impressing the Nottingham Post reporter at the City Ground.
Tuesday night may come too quickly for a senior Forest debut but a place on the bench is an option for Freedman who will be without the injured Michael Mancienne after he suffered a hamstring injury at Loftus Road.
Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett's team are also in confident mood after an exciting 4-2 victory against Bristol City but believes Forest have done well in the transfer market to replace the departed Michail Antonio.
He told the official Blues website: "They’ve got good individuals and they’ve got a real focal point now in Chris O’Grady which I think will certainly help them."
