The centre-half has dropped down a division after leaving Sheffield United but is confident of making a quick return.
He told the club website: "The fact that I've dropped down from the Championship to League One isn't a problem for me because I get the impression that everything at Forest is geared towards getting Forest back up there again - if not higher."
