Davies denies Forest board rift

Davies' position has been the subject of constant speculation this summer.

But he told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I have not complained, had a grievance or a discussion with any of the board or transfer acquisition committee.

"There are many things written about the manager - he's been disciplined, he's resigning or he's fallen out with the board. It doesn't exist."

Davies led Forest to a third-place finish in the Championship and took them to the play-offs last season, but he was critical of the club's failure to add to their squad in the January transfer window.

And the Reds are yet to sign a player this summer, while defender James Perch has joined Newcastle United and midfielder Joe Garner has moved to Huddersfield Town on loan.

In addition, striker David McGoldrick is expected to be sidelined for three months because of injury.

Forest have been linked with a host of players with Swansea's Darren Pratley and Cardiff's Peter Whittingham both on the wanted list.

But Davies insists he is not too concerned by the lack of new signings - yet.

"Judge us at the start of the season," he said. "There's a long time to go between now and then.

"I'm very hopeful that we can get people in, but I've got to tell you I'm very relaxed about what we've got.

"If we're going for automatic promotion, I would say that his club needs at least five players, and I'm talking 'stellar' signings here.

"Play-offs are a must for the club this year, and to achieve that we need between three and five 'stellar' signings to push ourselves forward."
