Boss Billy Davies has played down Nottingham Forest's chances of pushing for promotion due to a lack of transfer activity this summer. Davies guided the Reds into the play-offs last season after a third-placed finish but the Scotsman has warned they lack the quality to challenge at the top of the table ahead of Saturday's npower Championship opener at Burnley.
"I don't think we are ready, not with the group we have at the moment." the former Derby manager told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"You can see clearly there is a lot of work to be done in the team and there is a lot of quality we need to add. I keep saying to be a success in the Championship to improve each season - particularly when you finish in third in the table - you have to improve the quality and quantity. Unless you can do that you will get what you deserve."
