Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies urged Lewis McGugan to keep his feet on the ground after his fine display in the 3-1 win over Swansea.
The midfielder scored twice - the first a penalty - before being replaced by Radoslaw Majewski, who helped himself to a goal within 10 minutes of coming on before substitute Cedric van der Gun netted for Swansea in the final minute.
"There is no doubting the lad's ability but he's got to keep his feet firmly on the ground and keep doing what he's been doing lately," said Davies.
"He's a first-class lad and he's got to realise that he's got to keep working hard and look after himself. He's lost weight and dropped his body fat and I think we have finally found his ears and he understands what we are talking to him about.
"Lewis knows the expectations but I think he realised when he was sitting in the stand and on the bench that he had a fight on his hands."
