Wes Morgan has completed his move to Leicester City after a third bid from the Foxes was finally enough to persuade the Reds to sell.
It brings to an end the 27-year-old's career-long stay at the City Ground during which time he has made over 400 appearances for the club.
While Morgan's move had been accepted the surprise news on Monday was an offer from Chelsea for youth team hotshot Patrick Bamford, scorer of 9 goals in 2 recent FA Youth Cup ties.
Out of contract at the end of the season, the 18-year-old is the subject of a £1.5m bid from Stamford Bridge.
"Patrick's been offered a couple of contracts now," Steve Cotterill told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"He's been training with the first team for the last three months, which I certainly think has helped his play in the youth games."
Cotterill has managed to secure one new signing for his struggling squad, adding Wolves midfielder Adlene Guedioura on loan for the rest of the season.
