First up for the Reds on Thursday are Silkeborg IF who ply their trade in the Super League, Denmark's equivalent of the Premiership.
Silkeborg finished 8th out of 12 teams in the season just finished. The long winter break in Denmark means that the new season gets underway in a couple of weeks, just a month or so after the end of the previous campaign.
The club were founded in 1917, turning professional in 1982. Aside from one season in 2003/04 they have been in the top flight since 1988, winning the league for the only time in the 1993/94 season.
Silkeborg have competed in European competition five times but have yet to get past the first round.
