Nottingham Forest travelled to South Yorkshire on Saturday looking to maintain their excellent start to the Championship season after a week in which they twice fought back to gain positive results at the City Ground.
Darius Henderson more than played his part in those comebacks and was looking to get a place in the starting XI while Billy Davies could also call on the services of new loan signing Nathaniel Chalobah.
Opponents Doncaster were returning home after a draw at Huddersfield and defeat at Watford but manager Paul Dickov was more than pleased with the way his side performed in both of those games.
Team News: Both Henderson and Chalobah started while Greg Halford replaced Kelvin Wilson. Manchester United loan striker Macheda started for Rovers.
1st Half: A lively 45 minutes saw Macheda open the scoring for the home side on 34 minutes but his strike was cancelled out 5 minutes later by Chris Cohen to send Forest into the break on level terms.
2nd Half: Macheda's star may have fallen since he burst onto the scene at Manchester United but his signing was still seen as a coup for Doncaster and he justified that with a second goal on 52 minutes.
Billy Davies introduced Majewski, Paterson and Derbyshire into the fray in a bid to find an equaliser and Andy Reid obliged on 81 minutes to keep the Reds in the top six.
Match Reaction: Rovers boss Paul Dickov said afterwards: "Some of the football we played against a top team that will be up there at the end of the season was magnificent and it shows we can be competitive and get better in this league."
Opposite number Billy Davies commented: "We were a little bit slack at times but we never give in and that's the character these players have."
