The Nottingham Forest chief released 12 players and transfer-listed another 5 earlier this week as he begins the task of getting the Reds back into the Championship at the first attempt.
Chairman Nigel Doughty has promised Megson a budget that is likely to be the biggest in League One and the manager told the Evening Post: "There is not one area where we are not looking.
"I want to get us into a position where we have got competition for places, where we have got as few weaknesses as we can possibly have.
"We are in a position now from which we can go forward and hopefully we will be able to achieve that.
"I'm not interested in what the budget is, or saying what we are looking for, or what we aren't.
"We want good, honest players, hard working and capable, but they have got to fit into all those categories.
"But most of all, we want players who want to come to the football club, who are good enough and have an overwhelming desire to take Nottingham Forest forward."
