Nottingham Forest striker Dele Adebola has returned from injury ahead of schedule and will take part in the rest of the club's pre-season preparations.Adebola, 35, had to undergo surgery earlier in the summer after an old hernia repair had become infected.
It was thought he would be out for about a month but he has been back in training and is likely to play against Mansfield in Wednesday's friendly.
Fellow striker David McGoldrick remains sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Forest also have concerns at the back, with three central defenders ruled out of the friendlies against Mansfield and Tranmere Rovers.
Wes Morgan, Luke Chambers and Kelvin Wilson are all struggling with muscle strains.
