Baker played 134 games for Forest and scored 49 goals in a three-year spell after signing for £65,000 from Arsenal in 1966.

Although Baker was born in Liverpool, he had a strong Scottish accent after moving north of the border as a youngster.

He played for a number of clubs including Hibernian, Arsenal, Torino, Sunderland and Raith Rovers.

Zigga-Zagga, as he was known to the old Trent End, had been working to help former players and played a key part in the formation of a former players' association and former players' benevolent fund.

The Scottish Players' Union assistant secretary Fraser Wishart told BBC Sport:
"You could not meet a nicer, more genuine man and his death will be felt very hard here.

"He was legendary at every club he played for and I remember his wife telling us how they were mobbed in Turin by fans when they returned there a few years ago.

"Our thoughts are with her and their family."
