A number of senior players have called for his appointment to be made permanent and stories today suggest that if that happens, he will ask Clough to leave Burton Albion and join him as number two.
Clough had a spell at Manchester City as a player although it wasn't the most successful but has built up a good reputation as a manager through his work at Burton who he took into the Conference.
