One of a number of players deemed surplus to Manchester United requirements by new manager Louis Van Gaal, the 21-year-old winger is well known to Forest boss Stuart Pearce from the England under-21 setup.
More to come no doubt on this story throughout the week but Pearce is clearly keen to add to his options. Speaking after the opening day victory against Blackpool he said: "Am I reasonably content at this point? Yes I am. Do we need to have a better squad to go forward and challenge over the months? I think we do."
The first test of his squad will come on Tuesday night when the Capital One Cup trip to Tranmere Rovers may provide some of those players who did not start against Blackpool with an opportunity.
