The duo joined after a bullying incident left them eager to leave the Magpies and Forest were more than happy to accommodate the England youth midfielders.
Both impressed Paul Hart while on trial at the City Ground, and Forest snapped them up behind the backs of several Premiership clubs who had shown keen interest.
Academy director Nick Marshall was delighted James and Ross signed. He said: “They believe that joining Forest will enhance their long term prospects in the game”.
Paul Hart last night indicated the pair may soon find themselves pushing for a first team place despite starting off the season playing for the under 19’s.
Forest fans can see both players as Forest under 19’s take on Reading under 19’s at Wilford Lane tomorrow, kick off is at 11am.
