22-year-old central defender Mills came through the ranks at Southampton where he caught the eye of Manchester City who swooped for him in January 2006 with his contract running down at St Mary's.
First-team chances were hard to come by in the Premier League and it was a loan move to Doncaster in August 2007 that kickstarted Mills' career.
The England Under-21 international played a key role in Rovers' promotion to the Championship and the South Yorkshire club responded by paying a club record fee to make him a permanent signing last summer.
Donny can now expect to receive around several times their £300,000 outlay if they decide to cash in on Mills.
