Ahead of Monday night's big East Midlands derby at the Walkers Stadium, described as 'absolutely huge' by boss Sven Goran Eriksson, the Swede has signed striker Roman Bednar on loan and is closing on a deal for Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
The arrival of 27-year-old Czech frontman Bednar means Matty Fryatt is likely to be surplus to requirements and Forest are being linked with a loan move to sign the player as cover for the injured Dexter Blackstock.
Hull and Reading are also being seen as potential suitors for Fryatt while transfer speculation is also linking in-form Reds midfielder Lewis McGugan with a number of Premiership clubs.
McGugan of course will be going nowhere just yet and will come up against Leicester midfielder Richie Wellens on Monday night.
"There couldn't be a better game," said the ex-Doncaster Rovers man. "A lot of people say Derby is the big one, but Forest are probably the better side, even though the table doesn't show it at the moment."
