Harford had six games in charge as caretaker at the City Ground after Joe Kinnear's departure from the club but missed out on the top job when Gary Megson was appointed instead.
Now installed at relegated Rotherham, Harford insists he wants Forest to stay up and has told his side to give their all when they play both Watford and Brighton in the coming weeks.
"I don't want to see Forest relegated. That would be a disaster," said Harford.
"I really wish Forest all the best and I hope they get out of it.
"When I first went in at Rotherham I told the players that they would still be able to have a say in a few issues in the division.
"We have got a big part to play with games against Watford and Brighton.
"And we will be putting absolutely everything into these last few games."
