The 32-year-old has been troubled with a calf injury since signing from Plymouth Argyle but is now fully fit and set to start at Crewe on Saturday.
Friio has a good scoring record from a midfield position and said: "I have been a bit disappointed about the injury but since I came here it has gone well.
"When I arrived a month ago, we were nine points from safety. Now it is just four.
"I got injured in my first game, against Preston. When you have come in and signed a new deal you just want to play.
"I was struggling a little for four games but when we start back I will be 100% and the Forest fans will see what I am all about."
