League One Tranmere Rovers are the opposition at Prenton Park where boss Les Parry may take another look at some trialists and also hopes to have a new face on board as he closes in on a deal for a new forward.

“Ideally I would like to get the striker signed so we can play him in the Forest game," he told the Liverpool Daily Post.

Rovers have so far had a low-key start to their pre-season and Parry added: "We would prefer to have played Forest a week later in our schedule.

"But this was the only date Forest could fit us in. The biggest clubs call the shots when it comes to arranging these games.”

Another Reds XI will take to the park at Field Mill, Mansfield where boss David Holdsworth will also have some new players making their debuts.

"We expect to have at least two new signings, hopefully three, who are currently free agents," said Holdsworth, quoted in the Nottingham Evening Post.

"One is a striker who has a League pedigree and the other is an attacking midfielder.

"But we still recognise we need two strikers and the aim is to have a second one in for the Forest game."
