Colin Calderwood was given food for thought about his preferred starting XI for the League One campaign by some impressive performances in Wednesday night's 0-0 draw with MK Dons.
Neil Harris and Gino Padula in particular played well in the friendly and Calderwood said afterwards: "The ones that might not have played so much last season - maybe they have an extra incentive, I don't know, but I would say, overall, they are very, very focused.
"They look as if they have come to train hard, they are pushing themselves in training and they pushed themselves again against MK Dons.
"I have said before that the squad is big, but it is also good. I am very open-minded about the team."
