The 31-year-old's contract expires this summer so his chance at The City Ground could earn himself a permanent deal next season, whether it be with Forest or another Nationwide Division One club.
He told icLiverpool: "You're in the shop window. If you play well then you get yourself a move for the following season, so it is an incentive for me to do well there."
Joe Royle signed him from Oldham in 1996 for deal worth around £1m where he has since made 99 appearances for the Goodison Park club.
He was involved in the incident where Paolo Di Canio caught the ball in a sporting manner whilst playing for West Ham following a knee injury to Gerrard himself. The ball remained in play with the goal gaping but Di Canio
took it upon himself to stop the game where he then recieved a standing ovation.
