The Reds returned to league action at Molineux on Saturday afternoon
Stuart Pearce’s side were looking to build on the victory against Norwich City against a Wolves side who entered the international break on the back of a heavy defeat at Derby County.
Sunderland loanee Danny Graham made his debut up front for the hosts and the first-half was closely fought.
Forest emerged after the break in determined mood however and a gradual building of the pressure from the away side resulted in the crucial moments of the game going their way as Assombalonga and then Fryatt netted within three minutes of each other midway through the second-half.
With the wind taken out of Wolves’ sails it was the Reds who continued to impress and Henri Lansbury capped an excellent day when driving home the third goal on 84 minutes.
Forest move back to the fringes of the play-off places after a day when the strength of their attacking options was clear for all to see.
