So far, aside from the expected cull of twelve out-of-contract players at the end of last season a month has passed with not only no new signings but not even a hint of one.
Of the players transfer-listed, David Johnson and Adam Nowland have attracted a bit of interest while as for new signings, links with Colin Doyle, Tommy Mooney and Tes Bramble are hardly likely to get the fairweather fans saving up for trips to the City Ground next season.
At this stage it hardly looks like the massive rebuilding job that Megson had been talking about but on the flip side there could be a benefit in the low-key approach.
There are still enough good players at the club to mount a promotion challenge with just one or two new faces and massive changes may not be needed if Megson backs up his talk about his ability to get players fit during pre-season and gets the team off to a flying start.
