Since talks with Mick McCarthy broke down on Monday it has been open season for anyone and everyone to be linked with being Steve Cotterill's successor.
Glenn Hoddle remained the clear favourite going into Thursday, amid talk linking Gordon Strachan, Sven Goran Eriksson and ex-boss Billy Davies.
However there has also been a number of stories linking Crawley Town's manager Sean O'Driscoll (formerly Cotterill's assistant) and their director of football Steve Coppell with roles at the City Ground, reports that have been firmly denied by the League One newboys.
A random sample of comments on the Forest Mad forum show that O'Driscoll would be a popular choice given the quality of his Doncaster side and the impact he made when drafted in by Cotterill last season and indeed by Thursday evening he was odds-on with the bookies to make a quick return to Nottingham.
