The Scunthorpe boss and popular former City Ground star has been mentioned as one of the favourites to replace Gary Megson after his departure in February.
Laws however told The League Paper: "It is not something that bothers me.
"I wasn't surprised that people put two and two together and made five. I played for Forest and have a lot of friends there.
"They are a club I hoped I would go back to one day, whether in management or otherwise.
"I can't stop speculation, but my most important job is to make sure Scunthorpe are still playing in League One next season."
