The popular striker is set to drop to the bench against Oldham on Wednesday when Grant Holt returns from suspension to partner Nathan Tyson but told the Evening Post: "It's frustrating when you're not playing, but that's football.
"I've not gone through it much in my career and I'm thankful for that. But you have to work hard to get back in and that's what I'm doing.
"It's a squad of 20-odd players and not everyone can get in. My motivation is to do good things with the squad.
"I thought I've done ok, but it is a squad game and I know that - the manager will do what he thinks will get a result. I like to provide goals for my strike partner and I've done that a lot."
