The 20-year-old has figured as a substitute in the last few reserve games but has failed to break into Paul Hart's first team plans.
Kearney, 20, is a small midfielder who has come through the Youth Academy. He has excelled when on international duty with the Irish and should get plenty of valuable experience at Cheltenham.
Bobby Gould's side currently lie bottom of Divison Two behind Mansfield and Northampton. They are only three points away from Stockport who are in 20th position and only five points off struggling Notts County in 16th.
