Billy Davies is keen for Sam Hutchinson to finally make an impact as a Nottingham Forest player with the Chelsea defender set to return to the City Ground after lengthy treatment for a knee injury.
Davies told the Nottingham Post: "He has started training again and we are hopeful he will be back with us shortly.
"He is getting fit and should be back in the squad within 10 days or so.
"Having him back would be a real boost because he is a good player. He has quality. But we need to get him back, to get him fit and then we will see who wants the jersey the most."
David McGoldrick, however, does not see the return of Davies to the East Midlands giving him a second chance as a Reds player.
"Billy's one of the best managers I've worked under, but I don't think he'll try and get me back there," McGoldrick told BBC Radio Suffolk where he is currently on loan with Ipswich.
"That's got nothing to do with me. Billy's gone back there and has his own ideas and own players."
