Henri Lansbury set the Reds on the way to a 10th match unbeaten with two first-half penalties as referee Darren Deadman caused fury among the Blackburn players and staff.
Manager Gary Bowyer said afterwards: "We have to take it on the chin, we have to go again. We can't turn back time.
"They are not going to give us a replay. You just hope that the assessors write a report and that the referee sees it and looks to improve."
Opposite number Billy Davies tried to downplay the final scoreline as he continues to look at potential January signings but did say: "We have momentum, we have confidence, and we will keep working away. We have been playing good stuff in recent months, we have been creating chances."
While consolidating their place in the play-off places, the Reds keep in touch with the automatic promotion spots as well as they prepare for three more home fixtures in a row, against Preston North End in the FA Cup and Watford and Yeovil in the Championship.
