McParland, who together with Frank Barlow remains undefeated since taking over from Gary Megson, said: "I am a little bit excited. I'm sure one or two sides are now looking over their shoulders at us. We've got momentum going at the moment and there is a great resilience among the players to do well.
"We were up against a strong Colchester side who want an automatic promotion spot and they put us under a lot of pressure. But we stuck together and kept them out and the only way I could see them scoring was from a set-piece.
"Other results have gone for us as well and beforehand I couldn't see the likes of Oldham and Swansea losing - but that's football.
"We won't get carried away by how well this has gone for us and on Monday we will start preparing for the next game at Tranmere."
