McParland told Notts' official website: "I've watched Adam a lot over the years, from his time at MK Dons and West Ham and also worked alongside him at Nottingham Forest, so I know what he's all about.
"He's an accomplished central midfielder who's not afraid to get on the ball, dictate play and nick the odd goal.
"I'm confident he can do a good job for us and he'll help freshen up the squad and provide real competition for places."
