Reports in the press last weekend suggested that Tranmere boss Brian Little had been unhappy about the way the system, which is designed to speed up the game by having replacements available on the sidelines for when the ball is kicked out, had been implemented by Forest during the recent game between the two sides.
The matter was reportedly raised in the referee's match report.
Forest boss Gary Megson told the club website: "I find it laughable that people come to the City Ground and try and slow the game down from the first whistle, waste time and try and play for a point.
"They do that but once we have taken the lead, they suddenly want the game quickening up.
"We'll use one ball in future and leave it up to the crowd to dictate how quickly the ball comes back or not."
