Forest travel to Conference side Woking tonight for a first round tie tonight and although Megson is set to make changes from Saturday's game against Hartlepool he is looking for his fringe players to stake a claim for the weekend clash with Yeovil.
"I think the team will reflect the fact we have a few knocks from Saturday," he said.
"But there will be one or two who are not in there out of choice, too.
"And when players get an opportunity, regardless of whether they have played 500 games or it is their debut, they have to go out and they have to perform.
"You never know where it could lead.
"There could be one or two players playing in the competition that haven't had a massive opportunity this season; they have to take that opportunity when it comes."
