In a poor game in South Yorkshire both sides created very little in the way of clear cut chances and a point each was about right although Evans felt the visitors 'stole' their point.
Reds keeper Karl Darlow ensured a share of the spoils with a fine save with his legs from Reece James and assistant manager Steve Wigley said afterwards: "We worked very hard. The lads gave everything they've got but we are fully aware that we have got to play better in and around the final third than we did."
Forest are 9th in the Championship, five points off the play-off places.
Attendance was 11,228.
