Having left the City Ground in the summer, 29-year-old Moussi was without a club until signing a short-term Birmingham deal last week as new manager Gary Rowett strengthened his midfield options.
A lack of match fitness, however, meant that the Frenchman was not named in the matchday squad for last weekend's win at Rotherham United.
To try and get up to speed, Moussi played the full 90 minutes of an under-21 clash at Barnsley in midweek.
Signed by Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2008, he made 150 appearances for the club including 108 league starts.
Update: Speaking to the Birmingham Mail on Thursday, Rowett said: "He will come into contention for a few different factors. Firstly it’s his old team and his motivation will probably be a little bit higher than in different games.
"And he might just offer us something different in the game, whether that’s from the start or the bench - you look at different outcomes and what you might need to do."
