Experienced defender Andy Griffin signed on loan from Stoke City earlier this week while international clearance has been received for Icelandic striker Gunnar Thorvaldsson, who joins the club on loan from Danish side Esbjerg. Griffin's arrival will help solve what has been a problem position for the Royals, who have been forced to play players out of position at right-back over the course of the season. "He's still only 30, he's a good age and it's a good signing for us," manager Brian McDermott told the Reading Chronicle. Thorvaldsson has 21 caps for his country and impressed in a trial spell before signing a deal until the end of the season.
