Shortly after his sacking by Derby County, former Forest striker Clough has been appointed as the new manager of Sheffield United, replacing David Weir in the Bramall Lane hotseat.
Ex-Reds boss Steve McClaren, of course, is now in charge of the Rams while another of his old clubs, Middlesbrough, are searching for a new boss after parting company with Tony Mowbray.
Strongly linked with that job is another man with City Ground connections, Colin Cooper, currently in his first managerial role at Hartlepool.
"To be asked about the Boro job is a very hard question for me to answer," he told BBC Tees.
"I'm ambitious, don't get me wrong, and I want to do as well as I possibly can at Hartlepool and in whatever management career I have."
