The Dutch forward made little impact in his first season as a Nottingham Forest but the club have indicated they see a longer-term future for him at the City Ground with possible a loan spell away to come in 2015/16.
Reports of interest from Brentford have come about mainly because the Bees have appointed a new head coach, Marinus Dijkhuizen, who worked with Veldwijk at Excelsior in Holland where the player enjoyed a productive spell in front of goal.
But the Bees have made clear they intend to move towards a different model of player recruitment going forward, a stance that led to Mark Warburton leaving Griffin Park at the end of the season.
Will Veldwijk meet their requirements despite his lack of playing time for the Reds?
